Seashell/Sea Life Tea Light Lanterns

Click for larger image
Whether you live at the beach or not, these Coastal Garden Lights look amazing at night.

You can find these lantern style tea light holders at most craft stores (also home improvement stores).

Simply attach any sort of sea shell or sea life to one or all sides of the lantern and you have an instant coastal theme!

Hot glue is probably the best way to adhere them to the glass.  Depending on what type of lantern you use, you can also try putting shells inside for a different effect.

They look absolutely gorgeous lit up just after sun down.  They also look great at a Luau.

Heart Cockle Centerpiece

Click for larger image
Everyone is looking for a great centerpiece idea.  It can be especially difficult to come up with unique ideas for weddings.

Here we incorporated branches from trees in our yard, some hot pink nylon ribbon and Heart Cockle (True Heart) seashells to make a gorgeous display.

We placed three 1.5' branches so that they intertwined with each other and then loosely wrapped the nylon ribbon around.  Then we placed the Heart shells at our discretion around the display.

The contrast of the dark branches and hot pink ribbon with the white shells looks amazing.

You can use any type of shell that fits your theme however the Heart Shells are highly recommended!

Seashell Garland/Rope Display

Click for larger image
This is one of the most fun crafts when it comes to seashells.  It is a perfect craft to share with the whole family.

All you need is a length of rope (can be purchased or even better if you can find some old boat rope at the beach) and a selection of seashells and sea life.

Using twine, start attaching your items at whichever interval you like and hang them from the rope.  Starfish and Sea Urchins look great together.  Cone shells and Scallops also look great in these displays.

If you're having Christmas at the beach or just an ocean inspired party, this is definitely the perfect idea.

Use your imagination and add accent pieces like in the photo... old wood, vintage glass and drift wood really complete this piece.

Scallop Spice Dishes

Click for larger image
This is a great idea for weddings or parties where there is a nautical or ocean theme.

Simply turn a scallop on its back and use it as a dish for salt, pepper or any other spices you may be using at the event.

Make sure to thoroughly wash your shells before use (I usually boil them and quickly scrub them in the sink).

Scallops come in a wide variety of sizes and colors and add a bit of sophistication to your event.

Scallops usually will not lay perfectly flat so you can level it with rocks (shown) or even craft sand.

Sea Urchin Planter

Click for larger image
You would be amazed with what people come up with when it comes to seashells.

One of my favorite ideas is the Sea Urchin Planter.  It can probably house any type of small plant however air plants work best.

It works best with Sputnik Urchins (shown) due to their durability, however any type of Urchin should work fine.  This is probably the easiest DIY shell craft there is!

Seashell & Twine Mobile/Chime

Click for larger image
If you're looking for an easy way to decorate your beach house or nautical themed space, these mobiles/chimes are perfect!  You can use virtually any type of seashell or beach related item to make these your own.

~ Take a length of twine or string and using the image as a guide, attach your shells and other trinkets via a drilled hole, tied or glued. Repeat this two or three times.

~ Tie one end of the string to a small piece of drift wood or branch and let hang.

~ Seashells, twigs, rocks, feathers and glass all make great additions!

Seashell Garden Markers

Click for larger image
If you're like me and hate store bought garden markers, this is a fantastic way to mesh your love of gardening with a nautical feel.

Take an old (or new) wooden stake and paint or stain to suit.  Glue one 2" or 3" shell at the top of the stake and don't forget to paint (using stencils or freehand) your plant names.

The longer they are worn by the weather, the better they look!

Tea Lights With Seashell Accents

Click for larger image
This idea is great for ocean themed parties or a romantic evening with your significant other.

On a bed of sand, place tea lights in glass jars (or any other holder you like).  Use Scallops and Clams to accent the candles and give it a sophisticated touch.

If you want a beautiful variety of shells, try our White Seashell Mix - you get 24 medium sized shells for only $2.50 (price is accurate at time of posting).

Jo-Ann's or Michaels will probably have the best candle holders or a simple glass jelly or mason type jar will work great as well.

Mason Jar Vase w/White Shell Mix

Click for larger image
If you are looking to spice up your wedding or other event, this is a quick and easy way to do just that!

Using our White Shell Mix, you can turn an ordinary mason jar into a gorgeous vase.

Depending on the size of your jar, you will probably need one bag of our White Shell Mix per jar.  Fill your jars about 1/3 with the shells and then arrange your flowers as you normally would.

Leaving this extra space in the jar gives it a more refined look.  You could try using a little bit of sand at the bottom to give it more of a beach look.

Simple Seashell Display Shelf

Click for larger image
If you already have a small display shelf or have some scrap wood laying around to build your own, this is a beautiful display that is one of the most simple craft ideas.

The neat thing about this display is that you can really easily customize it and make it your own.

You can display shells you purchase or ones that you find.  To give it character and dimension also include other small trinkets like wood cutouts or rocks.

Simple "L" brackets keep this piece together as shown in the photo.  You can stain or paint the wood to match your decor.
